Exploring Community through Memories

Alice D.	Hello my name is road. About 42 years ago there once was a boy that went to the market to buy groceies for his mother. And on his way back he was driving his bike. And he was holding the groceries in his hand. And after a boy came riding fast on his bike, both boys crashed together. And after when the other boy with the groceries stood up he knew that he broke his ankle. And when that happened he was 15 years old. That's what happened 42 years ago. And he lived in Cuba and he was Alice's dad.
Bradley M.	My mom and her sister and friends would go to the park. They would go play basketball and spend some time at the library. Then the would to home.
Christopher M.	My name is fish. I remember when Christopher's mom was 5 years old and she got a big fish and then she went running to her mom and she showed her mom the big fish she caught. I'm glad I was a small fish, if not I would have been in the frying pan that day.
Christy M.	Hello my name is bicycle. I remember when Ileana rode me around the block and up and down the hills with her friends. There were beautiful days of sunshine. They also got up on a tree and would talk about anything for hours. It was fun watching them play hide and seek, jump rope, and played hopscotch and other fun games all day long. Those were her days in the weekend.
Eliza G.	Hello I am Cuba. I remember when Eliza's dad was little. He went with someone that had a hawk and they went hawking to catch a rabbit. He got the rabbit by letting the hawk go and the hawk chased the rabbit. The hawk would try to kill the rabbit and when he blew his whistle the hawk would come back to him and he would give him some meat.
Evelyne A.	Hello my name is Nicaragua. One day when Evelyne's dad was little like a kid, he went outside to pray to the Virgin with his cousin and they were getting the candies. Like I was saying her dad was lost and he was gone for a long time. He was lost and crying and one person came. The person found him and she was saying something to him."Where are you going?" and my dad said, "I was going with my cousin". And the person took Evelyne's dad to the fire station and then his grandmother and grandfather were looking to find him. They were very nervous because they didn't know where Evelyne's daddy was. Then my grandparents found him in the firfighters and he was very sleepy. And this is why this is my first memory.
George S.	My name is Cuba. I remember 30 years ago, George's dad was hitting his brother with a rope while he was naked and he was hitting him in his butt. Because they were playing horse and his brother was the horse. That guy was George's dad.
Giancarlo G.	I am Mexico. I saw this girl and her family. She was in a hotel. She saw some beautiful mountains and nice people. There were nice pools. It was warm. No snow in the mountains. She would always play golf, go to the movies, and meet new friends. And that's what I saw. That girl was Giancarlo's mom.
Jackie M.	One day when my mom was a little girl, she was playing ball outside with her two best friends. Then the ball fell in a yard of her next door neighbor. My mom jumped over the fence to get the ball. She forgot that there was a big dog in the yard. My mom got the ball and ran to jump the fence, but when she jumped over her pants got stuck to the fence. The dog was so mad, he almost bit her. She then tore her pants off and was able to get free.
Javier G.	Once my dad was in Honduras. There were lots of holes so it was dangerous. He didn't listen so he was driving and fell in a hole. The bike crashed and he went flying and he hit the floor hard. For just that he got punished. So that is what happened to my dad.
Jessica Q.	My mom was 3 years old and she had a dog at my grandpa's farm. There was a pot and she put the puppy in the pot. Hey, she was only 3 years old. You can't blame her for doing that. The rescue department came. They cracked the pot and luckily the little puppy was still alive and I have a puppy now and that puppy that my mom had is my dog now.
Jezabel M.	My name is Ms. Earthquake. I remember when I striked at Peru. Everyone thought they were going to die, but that was not true because then I left. When Jezabel's mom was a little girl she was scared. Then I striked again and she was scared. But then I didn't come no more in like a month.
Jonathan G.	My name is Smoky Mountain. I get super cold in the winter so cold that ice covers me all up. In the winter a lot of people come to ride on me. One winter I remember a young girl was on me and little did she know I had a lump on my throat. That lump was very hard to see and she was heading right towards it. Suddenly I banged! I got hurt in the lump and the girl got hurt in the knee and we cried, ouch, ouch! Luckily we survived and both of us were in the news paper. That girl was Jonathan's mom.
Jonathan L.	Hello my name is Honduras and I remember that Jonathan's mom was born on the 14th of March and Jonathan's mom was all pretty and she had yellow hair. She decided to go to school when she was only 6 years old. Then she went to 2nd grade. Then to 6th grade and her mom really loved her. That girl was Jonathan's mom.
Jonathan N.	My name is swing. I remember when a little girl sat on me. She was beautiful and she had beautiful parents.
